Always good to see the rewards for using compost materials. . Plenty of worm activity cycling nutrient rich castings into the root zone.. just wish the slugs would get busy somewhere away from the crop..

Oilseed rape getting away

Seems the mild weather is getting the OSR away well in places. . Some downy mildew seen and watching for signs of aphids and phoma. .

Aphids in osr

One or 2 signs of flea beetle activity this week, and the first indication of aphids... watching for BYMV protection.

Ideal germination

6 days on and av 50 seeds per m2.. around the planed seed rate.
2 good leaves.

Winter oilseed rape at cotelydon to 2 leaf.. no fleabeetle signs.

Emergence of osr

Recorded Average of 45 seeds per m2.

Almost 100% of sown seeds emerged.
